First off, I want to thank you for your support you have provided BASF over the years---we sincerely appreciate the business!! BASF always strives to have the most innovative products and highest performing products in the industry. BASF continues the search for solutions to farmer’s problems such as resistant weeds, diseases, while at the same time looking for ways we can increase yields. BASF has been promoting “Getting the Most Out of Every Acre” for many years now. The integrity of our BASF products is very important to us. Our commitment is to deliver products from our manufacturing plants to your growers’ fields. To do this we enlist contract distributors. They handle the shipping and storage of our products all the way out to our local retailers. Recently there has been much discussion around Farm Business Network (FBN). It has come to our attention that they are telling growers that they are purchasing product from basic manufacturers and at least in the case of BASF this is simply not true. FBN holds no contract to purchase products directly from BASF. Nobody knows for sure where they acquire BASF products but it is not directly from BASF. Given all this we hope you understand that BASF will not service any field inquiries from our products purchased through FBN. This is same policy we apply to any other entity that has not purchased BASF products through a contract distributor (sometimes this is referred to as “from the broker market”;). We hope that you will continue make BASF product recommendations and we want to ensure you get the full value of that recommendation which includes a service policy.
Also, this year we added a more aggressive Grow Smart Rewards program for the Farmer and I want to make sure that you understand, this is driven by Point of Sale reporting. So, if a Farmer purchases product through FBN, that product will not be eligible for any of our Grow Smart Rewards, John Deere Financial or the $75/gallon Rebate on Headline AMP or Priaxor ($9/ac plus in Corn and $5/ac plus in Soybeans). FBN, of course is not a contract distributor or an authorized retailer, so they report NO POS to BASF.
